In 2019, Singapore is set to top its already diverse offerings of events and festivals suitable for different lifestyles and age groups – all in the name of celebrating the nation’s bicentennial milestone.

Don’t know where to start looking for events to attend? We’ve scoured the interweb to find you things to do every month for the entire year ahead!

January: Appreciate the arts @ Singapore Art Week

Feast your eyes on art installations sprawled over five key regions across the island – all as part of the seventh installation of Singapore’s visual arts celebration.

From art trails to exhibitions, workshops to screenings, the Singapore Art Week showcases experiences suitable for both the art newbie and the art aficionado.

We’re especially excited for the Light to Night Festival 2019 that’ll stretch all the way until 24 February in various locations along the Civic District.

February: Get cultural @ Chingay Parade

Typically held during Chinese New Year, the Chingay Parade is a celebration that has been embedded as a part of Singapore’s heritage. As one of the largest street shows in Asia, Chingay brings together people of all backgrounds to marvel at colourful floats, stilt walkers and many other performers.

March: Party @ Garden Beats Festival

Looking for an outing with your siblings or cousins? Here’s one event that can cover all interests – whether it’s music, style, food or the arts.

The Garden Beats Festival is the perfect outing where you can attend talks and workshops that’ll encourage you to be live a more eco-friendly life, or just lay a mat on the grass and have a good ol’ picnic together.

April: Go animal crazy @ PetExpo 2019

For a family that loves pets, this is the perfect event to head to. The three-day PetExpo event held at Singapore Expo will be lined-up with unique pet showcases, seminars to help you understand and take care of your pets better, and fun contests. Free entry for kids below 12 years of age.

May: Get artsy @ Singapore International Festival of Arts

This annual festival brings lovers of all art forms together by showcasing captivating works from the theatre, music, film, dance and virtual arts scene.

July: Watch Aladdin The Musical

August: Celebrate National Day

There really isn’t anything more Singaporean than to sit together in front of the television on the evening of 9 August 2019 and watch the National Day parade with your loved ones.

What’s even better than that? Step out and join other Singaporean citizens and residents in celebrating another year of independence for a nation that has come so far since 1965.

September: Feel the adrenaline @ Singapore Grand Prix

The Singapore Grand Prix was the first night Formula One night race to be held in the world. Now in its eleventh edition, the excitement for the race has yet to die out.

The event organisers have already released the first wave of entertainment line-up and you can expect to be entertained by artists like Muse and Fatboy Slim.

Not planning to go out of the house on Formula One weekend? Then grab a bowl of popcorn, invite your friends over, and watch the race on television.

October: Smell the flowers @ Rhododendron Radiance

While October is usually devoted to celebrations like Halloween (think Halloween Horror Nights!) and festivities like Deepavali, we’ve decided to feature something different for your family to participate in.

Head over to Gardens by the Bay this October to venture along the exclusively curated forest of gorgeous rhododendrons flowers all the way from New Zealand. Feast your senses on the radiant colours of these evergreen flowers.

November: Be amazed @ Singapore Biennale 2019

Singapore Art Museum brings to you another round of the much-awaited contemporary art exhibition.

Although the theme for 2019 is yet to be released, there is much excitement for the programme line-up which is aimed at providing a platform for visual artists and art organisations to showcase their work.

This is a great chance for the family to visit Singapore’s many museums and to be amazed by talent that we have in and around our island nation.

December: Enjoy Christmas @ Orchard Road

The iconic festival light-up along the streets of Orchard Road every year is a cause of excitement for many Singaporeans.

Children and adults, local and tourists – all flock to the street of Singapore’s favourite shopping district to see how the decorations fare year on year.

Enchanting lights aside, soak in the merry spirit with festive buys, street performances and activities that’ll bring to live the magic of Christmas.
