“Ada Kerak Ada Nasi” by Gunong Sayang Association

Ada Kerak Ada Nasi is the 30th production of Wayang Peranakan by Gunong Sayang Association (GSA), marking a significant return after a five-year break.

This production, set to run from 27th to 28th September 2024, at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, represents a unique fusion of traditional Peranakan art forms with contemporary elements.

Ada Kerak Ada Nasi delves into culturally rich themes of family dynamics, exploring the consequences of our choices, all within the context of a modern-day Singaporean family.

The play not only revives the traditional Wayang Peranakan but also introduces a new generation of performers, ensuring the continuity and relevance of this cultural treasure for future audiences.

The production also features a live musical performance and authentic Peranakan costumes, including traditional wedding attire, offering audiences an immersive cultural experience.

With the guidance of Artistic Director Tony Quek, who makes a remarkable comeback after a five-year absence, this play promises to captivate both young and old alike.
