Honouring the spirits of the dearly departed with food offerings, the Hungry Ghost Festival takes place during the seventh month of the lunar calendar. The Chinese festival has roots in Buddhism and Taoism, and it is a time where burnt offerings and live street performances are commonly seen in Singapore.
