Weish: The Singaporean Musician, Composer and Writer on Finding Her Voice Amidst a Pandemic

Known for her enchanting vocals and hypnotic looks, Weish is a treasure in Singapore’s music scene. While many remember her as the lead vocalist and overall cool girl from electronic duo .gif, the songstress has been busy charting new waters in local theatre.

In Part 1 of People of the Arts: Stories from Singapore to Germany – a collaboration with KunstLAH! (@sgdekultur), an initiative by the Singapore Embassy in Berlin – we talked to Weish about creating art and finding her voice through theatre during a global pandemic.

We’d like to extend our gratitude to Checkpoint Theatre and the Singapore International Festival of the Arts for sharing their original works with us.
