“A lot of things happened in 2015 – both the good and the bad – and it really changed my view of the world. I don’t really want to go into the details, but when you go through a bad patch, you really learn who your true friends are. I really felt lost last year, so 2016 has been about finding myself again.

I sort of live by this mantra now, “Surrender to what is, let go of what was, and have faith in what will be”. That’s one of the reasons why I started my new job last December – it signified a new chapter in my life. I’m now an Operations Executive with an oil and gas company, and I really love my new job because the maritime and shipping industry is so dynamic.

I also got engaged last year. My fiancé and I have known each other for 16 years, and we intend to get married at the end of the year. For now, I wouldn’t say that my life is sorted out, but I think it’s going somewhere.” – Puteri, 29
