Back for its second edition, the Everesting for Second Chances (Everesting) campaign aims to raise awareness about the social challenges of the reintegration of ex-offenders.

Organised by HCSA Community Services, this year’s campaign includes a family carnival, in addition to its 24-hour indoor Everesting event. This emphasises the importance of support from families and the entire community to ease the reintegration journey.

Everesting is a term that refers to the activity in which people scale and descend a hill until they accumulate 8,848 metres – the height of Mount Everest – in elevation gain. It symbolises the uphill journey that ex-offenders face as they strive to rebuild their lives.

In partnership with Families for Life and in support of the National Family Festival 2024, this year’s family carnival includes food stalls, engaging games, bouncy inflatables and a flea market.

The campaign aims to raise funds for ex-offenders, where all proceeds will go to HCSA Highpoint Halfway House (HCSA Highpoint). HCSA Highpoint focuses on supporting ex-offenders to achieve longer term desistance with its programme and services.
