Description

Checkpoint Theatre rounds out the company’s lauded 2024 Season with the debut of another instant classic, Hard Mode, developed by the team that brought Normal (2015, 2017) and the award-winning production The Fourth Trimester (2022) to the stage.

Acclaimed playwright Faith Ng’s new play, directed by Claire Wong and with dramaturgy by Huzir Sulaiman, runs from 18 to 26 October 2024 at SOTA Drama Theatre.

Commissioned by the National Arts Council, Hard Mode follows teen siblings
Adam and Arissa and their friends Rian, XY, and Maya as they navigate growing
up in Singapore and its customary stresses: transitioning to new schools, forming And maintaining friendships, dealing with parental expectations, and finding out just who they really are.

Contemporary teenagehood is a treacherous and dynamic landscape where today’s youth traverse both real life and the digital world simultaneously, figuring things out on their own.
