Description
Singapore may rank among the world’s most food-secure nations, but a closer look tells a more nuanced story. The Food Bank Singapore’s Hunger Report II found that 10.4% of surveyed households experienced food insecurity at least once in the past 12 months.
Often, this does not look like hunger in the conventional sense, but rather quiet, everyday compromises such as eating less often, or choosing less nutritious options due to limited financial means.
It is this gap that The Hunger Gap Walkathon sets out to address. The Food Bank Singapore is launching the walkathon as a nationwide virtual initiative running from 29 May to 31 July 2026, inviting participants to walk any distance, anywhere, and track it via Strava in support of individuals and families who face these quiet, everyday compromises in accessing food.
