Designers, architects, students and members of Singapore’s wider creative community can exchange ideas about the future of the built environment during SIDFest 2026.
Organised by the Society of Interior Designers, Singapore, the annual festival returns under the theme The Care We Design.
Its programme explores how thoughtfully designed environments can support people, communities and the planet through professional symposiums, showroom tours and an international design exchange.

Consider How Design Can Support Wellbeing
SIDFest’s first symposium, Care for Wellbeing, examines how interior environments can positively influence physical, emotional and cognitive health.
Speakers will discuss biophilic and sensory design, lighting, acoustics, materials and spatial planning alongside approaches that respond to mental health, neurodiversity and different physical needs.
The session takes place at the Admira showroom on 16 September and brings together perspectives from design, healthcare, research and education.
Explore Innovation and Intelligent Environments
Care Through Innovation considers how technology can help designers create more responsive, sustainable and personalised environments.
The programme covers smart homes, artificial intelligence, parametric design, digital fabrication and circular materials. It will also examine how data can improve functionality and operational efficiency within interior spaces.
Hosted at the J&S Experience Studio on 18 September, the symposium features specialists in architecture, lighting and workplace design.
Design Spaces That Bring People Together
The festival moves from technology to belonging during Care for Connection on 21 September.
This symposium explores how community spaces, public interiors and informal “third places” such as cafés, libraries and civic hubs can encourage interaction and create a stronger sense of shared identity.
Speakers will also consider placemaking and cultural storytelling as tools for creating welcoming environments that reflect the communities using them.
Rethink Homes for Different Stages of Life
Presented in collaboration with the Singapore Furniture Industries Council, Care for Living focuses on longevity, ageing in place and changing family structures.
The discussion covers universal design, home modifications, assisted-living models and adaptable spaces that allow people to retain their independence as their needs change.
Participants can also learn how furniture and interior solutions may support intergenerational households and community-based approaches to senior living.
Imagine the Future of the Built Environment
The Singapore symposium series concludes with Care for Future on 25 September.
Designers, artists and educators will consider emerging housing models, climate resilience, adaptive reuse and new ways of living, working and connecting.
The session also explores how youth, citizens and communities can contribute their lived experiences to the design process, helping future environments remain relevant and inclusive.
Continue the Exchange in Taipei
SIDFest continues beyond Singapore with a four-day, three-night Design Exchange Expedition to Taipei from 1 to 4 October.
Organised by the Society of Interior Designers, Singapore, the overseas mission introduces participants to Taipei’s design scene while creating opportunities for regional exchange, professional connections and new creative perspectives.
Our Take
SIDFest 2026 is more substantial than a conventional design exhibition. Its programme positions interior design as something that can influence health, independence, social connection and environmental resilience.
The symposiums are particularly relevant to designers, architects, educators and students, although curious members of the public may also appreciate their accessible ideas about how everyday environments shape quality of life.
