Description
Celebrate Singapore’s 61st birthday in the historic Kampong Gelam precinct with an afternoon and evening of films, music, community activities and National Day festivities.
Taking place at Sultan Gate Park on 9 August 2026, Siang Malam di Kampong Gelam invites visitors to mark National Day through a programme celebrating Singapore’s shared culture and identity.
Visitors can contribute to a community mural inspired by batik, catch screenings of the local football films Ordinary and One Leg Kicking, and enjoy Colours of Harmony by SwaRythm — a multicultural musical performance blending Indian, Chinese, Malay and Western influences.
The celebrations continue into the evening with a communal National Day viewing experience. Organisers have also teased the possibility of catching fireworks from the area, with further programme details to be announced.
EP Tip
Come earlier in the afternoon if you would like to participate in the activities and explore Kampong Gelam before the evening celebrations begin. As this takes place on National Day, allow additional travelling time and expect larger crowds around the precinct.
