Singapore’s largest celebration of independent and alternative music returns to Esplanade for four free nights as Baybeats 2026 marks its landmark 25th edition.
For more than two decades, Baybeats has given emerging musicians a platform to perform alongside established local and international artists. The festival returns from 3 to 6 September 2026 with 48 acts spanning indie rock, punk, metal, hip hop, ambient music and other adventurous sounds.
Presented by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, the four-day festival spreads across indoor and outdoor stages around the waterfront arts centre. Admission is free, although advance registration is required for performances held at the Annexe and Powerhouse².
The 25th edition brings together Singapore favourites, emerging artists and overseas performers from across Asia and Europe. Its wider programme also includes a music-equipment marketplace, festival merchandise, creative activities and an interactive Baybeats world on Roblox.

Our Take on Baybeats 2026
Baybeats remains one of Singapore’s most valuable music festivals because it treats emerging alternative artists as its central purpose rather than an opening act. Its Budding Programme has helped young bands, photographers and writers develop their craft while introducing wider audiences to musicians they may not encounter through mainstream channels.
The 25th edition balances that community-building role with an ambitious international line-up. Audiences can discover artists from Singapore, China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Macau and Europe without purchasing a conventional festival pass.
The festival also overlaps with the September school holidays, making it an affordable outing for families with older children and teenagers who enjoy live music. Visitors should check the individual performance listings carefully, as schedules and stages differ across all four days and selected indoor shows require registration.
