Experience Singapore’s living heritage through nine days of light installations, music, art, guided discoveries and family activities across Singapore Botanic Gardens and Fort Canning Park.

The Singapore Botanic Gardens and Fort Canning Park Heritage Festival 2026 takes place from 5 to 13 September, coinciding perfectly with the September school holidays.

The festival celebrates the history and continuing legacy of two of Singapore’s most significant green spaces through concerts, exhibitions, workshops, tours and immersive experiences. Its programmes invite visitors to explore heritage not as something frozen in the past, but as a living responsibility shaped by nature, science and community.

The festival also forms part of the year-long celebration marking the tenth anniversary of the Singapore Botanic Gardens’ inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Highlights of the Heritage Festival 2026

Discover EnlighTEN after dark: Singapore Botanic Gardens presents its first large-scale light experience across five iconic locations. Immersive installations and visual storytelling transform familiar landscapes while illuminating stories from the Gardens’ history.

Enjoy Xinyao Lives On!: This special edition of Arts@SBG: NAC-ExxonMobil Concert in the Gardens presents a two-hour celebration of homegrown Xinyao music in the open air.

Explore two historic parks: Programmes extend beyond Singapore Botanic Gardens to Fort Canning Park, allowing visitors to uncover the different botanical, social and cultural stories contained within both landscapes.

Join guided heritage experiences: Curated walks and tours introduce visitors to historic landscapes, important plant collections and the institutional work that has shaped the Gardens across generations.

Learn through hands-on activities: Educational programmes, talks and workshops offer engaging ways for children and adults to explore plant science, conservation and the evolving responsibilities involved in protecting a living botanical heritage.

Travel using the free festival shuttle: A complimentary shuttle bus operates between Singapore Botanic Gardens and Fort Canning Park on weekends from 9am to 10pm, making it easier to experience programmes at both locations.

The Heritage Festival is an especially strong September school holiday option because it combines outdoor recreation with culture, science and learning without making the experience feel like a conventional lesson.

Families can shape their visit around their interests, whether that means exploring the Gardens after dark during EnlighTEN, enjoying an outdoor concert or joining a more focused workshop or guided experience.
