The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on 25 September 2026, but celebrations across Singapore begin several weeks before the full moon appears.

Several principal attractions are free, while selected workshops, carnival games and ticketed programmes carry separate charges. Check the individual admission and registration requirements before heading out.
1. Follow moonlit legends at Lights by the Lake 2026
Lights by the Lake 2026 transforms Jurong Lake Gardens into an illuminated Mid-Autumn destination filled with larger-than-life lanterns, light shows, performances and family activities.
Visitors can follow five lantern scenes inspired by The Legend of the White Snake at Lakeside Field before discovering illuminated interpretations of Chang’e, the Jade Rabbit, Princess Kaguya and shimmering koi across Chinese Garden and Japanese Garden.
The main festival runs from 19 to 27 September. Its lantern displays remain illuminated until 4 October, giving families an additional week to explore the three gardens after the principal programme concludes.
Opening-night highlights on 19 September include NParks Concert Series in the Park: Rockestra. Other selected programmes include storytelling, exhibitions, guided experiences, hands-on activities, Hanfu dress-up and an LED lion dance.

2. Enter Sanrio Characters Moonlit Garden at VivoCity
Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi and their friends take over the VivoCity Sky Park during Sanrio Characters Moonlit Garden.
The experience comprises six connected environments filled with glowing lanterns, mooncakes, water gardens, fairy lights and oversized character installations.
Families can cross Hello Kitty’s lantern walk, explore Cinnamoroll’s garden, encounter a towering Hangyodon and join Pompompurin beside an enormous mooncake. The installations are accessible throughout the day but become especially atmospheric when illuminated from 6pm.
Admission to the principal garden is free. Separately chargeable attractions include carnival games, a miniature train, capsule machines and selected retail activities.

3. Contribute a lantern at Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2026
Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 introduces a community-led format centred on handwritten blessings, contributed lanterns and neighbourhood participation.
Visitors can write personal wishes on lanterns at participating booths before seeing them progressively added to displays at Kreta Ayer Square and Banda Street.
The headline celebration, Light a Lantern, Share Your Blessing, takes place from 6pm on 19 September. The programme includes a community lantern procession, mooncake and tea appreciation, cultural activities and riddles presented in Singapore’s four official languages.
Visitors should note that Chinatown’s customary large-format lantern installations will not appear along Eu Tong Sen Street and New Bridge Road in 2026. This year’s displays comprise smaller lanterns created and contributed by the community.

4. Choose from 25 activities at Mid-Autumn Family FUN
Mid-Autumn Family FUN 2026 brings 25 family-friendly activities to the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and neighbouring Singapore Conference Hall.
Jointly organised by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Singapore Chinese Orchestra, the festival combines familiar traditions with contemporary performances and interactive cultural experiences.
Families can join a lantern walk, sample mooncakes, observe the night sky, solve lantern riddles, make festive crafts and watch Chinese orchestra, storytelling, dance and crosstalk performances.
Visitors can also explore the illuminated Bit Bit Forest rooftop installation or try on traditional Chinese clothing at the Hanfu Wardrobe Corner. The programme includes free activities and separately ticketed experiences.

5. Celebrate beneath the lanterns at One Punggol Mid-Autumn Festival 2026
One Punggol Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 brings the community together for a free evening of lantern displays, cultural performances and family activities.
The four-hour programme transforms One Punggol into a festive gathering place where visitors of different ages can experience the atmosphere and traditions associated with Mid-Autumn Festival.
The celebration takes place on the final day of the September school holidays and coincides with One Punggol’s Second Birthday Bash. Families can therefore enjoy both community celebrations during the same visit.
Admission is free, making this one of the guide’s most accessible options for families living in Punggol and northeastern Singapore.
